testimonials

“Perhaps it was a moment of rare opportunity – or good fortune – or just plain luck – when we met a man who deeply touched our hearts and minds. We were traveling in Dharamsala, India when we were introduced to a Tibetan Buddhist monk known as Geshe Pema Dorjee. It wasn’t only his clear, thoughtful, and practical answers to our questions. Nor was it only his unassuming warm-hearted nature, easy smile, kind eyes, keen intellect, and infectious sense of humor. True, he had all of these qualities. It was mainly that we were profoundly moved by his deep and sincere compassion for those in need – his wish to alleviate suffering.” Carol and Stephen Mackauf, (Tibetan Buddist Charity Aid, inc.)

“Pema Dorjee has a direct and „hands on“ approach to his projects and is personally supervising progress with his project coordinators. He believes in transparency and finds it very important that every donation is accounted for and does not get lost, thus guaranteeing a direct link between doner and projects.” Siri Weirum, project coordinator, Norway

“When it comes to help the ones in need, the word “impossible” does not exist for Geshe-la. For those working with him, that can become quite a challenge, but with time, the word impossible fades away for them as well. He is so easily touched. His heart seems to me like a soft boiled egg, you touch it, it quivers and the goodness comes pouring out immediately. Beings like him are very rare in this time and age. I feel very fortunate to know him so well.” Ani Rita Riniker, travelling nun and teacher

“I met Geshe Pema Dorjee very briefly in 1990 at the Tibetan Childrens Village in Dharamsala, where he acted as energetic principal. But my first personal meeting was in July 1999, at Tsering Damoches place in Landquart Switzerland concerning the project to preserve Bodong Tradition in Kathmandu.

When I entered the room and I saw the beaming, radiant and friendly face of Pema, I was instantly touched and knew that we had something in common and that somehow we would work together. Having discussed the future of Porong Gompa, I felt that we already had become close friends. There was a verbal but also a mutual understanding of our aims in life although we came from completely different backgrounds.

We have met a lot during the many past years and each time I am deeply touched by his tremendous wisdom and his boundless compassion, which is a compassion in action and by his humour. Geshe Pema Dorjee is devoting each and every moment of his life for the benefit of others. This is the most important inspiration I got in life. May he be protected by all of us.” Marlies Kornfeld, president of Bright Horizon Children´s Home
